Keeping fit in a college lifestyle

Late Night Snacking

Late night snacking can be very discouraging. You go through the whole day eating right…. and then when the day turns to night the snacking takes over.

Many things may cause the late night munchies, and if you really want to quit the habit you have to take the time to realize the cause behind it.

  • Loneliness?
  • Stress?
  • Boredom?
  • Emotions?

Work on channeling that feeling into something productive.

Find something to do instead of finding comfort in food.

Some Helpful Tips:

Try not to eat while watching TV. You won’t realize you are full and will mindlessly keeping snacking….and snacking.

Drink Tea! (Decaffeinated) When you want to dig into the chip bag, go for a cup of tea instead! Get in the habit of it every night. Tea curbs appetite and gives you something to hold in your hand…instead of a cookie ;)

Recently I have been drinking Decaffeinated Green Tea, and Bengals Spice Tea. There are so many different kinds of teas to choose from!

Keep yourself busy…

(Some things I do)

  • Clean my room while watching Friends on TV
  • Write/ work on the Blog
  • Go to the gym for a late cardio session
  • Update my I-pod with new music
  • Call my mom or Skype my friends

(Some other ideas)

  • Paint your nails
  • Get crafty
  • Organize your closet
  • Get out of the house and go to a friends house

Some times it’s best to just get out of the house- take yourself away from temptation
